Looking for encouragement
Ladies,
I’ve been in a committed relationship for the past 4 years. Over the last two years, our jobs have forced us into a long distance relationship. I’m so tired of it and there’s no real end in sight. We recently had a conversation about marriage, kids and settling down. He said he feels like it’s 5 years off (mostly the babies idea). We’re well into our early/mid thirties. I hate the idea of ultimatums but I explained to him if there isn’t an engagement in the next 12 months, then I can’t take him seriously. I feel like an engagement is a deceleration for his intentions, not just to me but to our families. I’m happy to leave my career and find a job somewhere that works for both of us but I won’t end my (12 yr military) career for someone who clearly isn’t working with me towards marriage and other common life goals.
I know many woman who have been in my shoes. Several of my friends have been in 7-10 year relationships before an engagement. Please share your stories and your encouragement with me.
