dying of cramps

every time i get my period i get the worst symptoms every i get heavy cramps and headaches and i usually can’t get out of bed most days. so i want to talk to my doctor about birth control, not for the fact of not getting pregnant but to help with some of this, does anyone have advice or past experiences with this and did birth control help???
