Honestly as a former special education teacher I have seen first hand what it’s like the have a special needs child with fetal alcohol syndrome. It doesn’t take much and the poor baby has to suffer the rest of his life. Multiple medications to keep his organs working, strange food preparation preferences, behavior problems, consolation/ complete colonic incontinence, and no sleep schedule as well as no way to safe guard your house to keep the kid from escaping if he wakes up before you and wants to go outside. It’s really not worth it and it’s only nine months.

I would never do something that is known to be harmful, but I do know someone (my SIL’s best friend) who drank twice (actually got drunk) during her first pregnancy and her son has both fetal alcohol syndrome and autism. She drank a glass of wine 3 days a week during her second and the embryo stopped growing before 10 weeks.

I’m constantly worried about this because I found out I was pregnant around 5 months because I was on birth control.. I work in a bar so I was drinking normally for that whole time of not knowing... my doctors say everything is fine but idk if she will have problems

I was crazy drunk right after implantation, and I had a couple cocktails the next week, with no ill effects to baby. I haven’t had any alcohol since I found out though. 
With my first baby, I had half a glass of wine a couple times later on and she’s fine too.

My little niece is adopted and her birth mother smoked pot and they think did meth while pregnant. My SIL who adopted her said drs told her that fetal alcohol syndrome is more damaging to babies than many drugs including meth! And they don’t even know how much alcohol will cause fetal alcohol syndrome (I mean i guess it depends on the moms weight and tolerance and all sorts of factors). I just don’t think even a glass of wine is worth it to me personally.

I had a quarter glass of red wine here and there 3rd trimester to ease my severe cramping and back pain, my dr said he'd prefer that over taking tylenol every day.  But if you're flat out drinking liquor, that's awful.
