I started birth control about a month and a half (6 weeks) ago and since then I have been spotting a lot, around every other day I've bled at least a little bit

I had my period (I think) when I was supposed to

I'm not sure if it was my period because the flow was relatively lighter than all my past periods and the length of it was shorter

It was also during a time in which I was bleeding every day (heavy spotting)

Is this a normal effect of birth control?
