Uk first scan anxiety.

Louise

So today I went for my first midwife appointment and it was really reassuring. I suffer from anxiety (just come off a high dose of venlafaxine and aripirazole) and the midwife was so nice to me. Rather than telling me I was ridiculous for having done 6 pregnancy tests, she sent me to the early pregnancy unit to get a scan to reassure me. I had to make a case for doing so with the dr but once they realised I was more anxious than usual pregnancy anxiety, they agreed to give me one. I’m 6w, 6d pregnant according to my last period but only ovulated on day 20 of my cycle this time round - which I know thanks to the opk I was using. Well the scan showed everything in the right place and they even detected a heartbeat though said the foetus was too small to accurately calculate it. They offered me an appointment in two weeks time to calculate the heartbeat - though I’m away - so getting another scan when I’m back. I really hope it all goes well. For those of you in London, I can really recommend UCLH.
