Does your baby take a pacifier?

So I was wondering does your child take a pacifier? My first 3 didn’t and now this one does. We currently rely on it. When is a good time to beak them of the pacifier? Any tips? Thanks

One of my kids was a paci addict.  We liked it because he couldn’t cry with it in....so I guess as a family we were all addicted to it.
We got lucky.  He had a teacher at daycare who hated pacis.  She broke him of his daytime habit around a year (we stopped using it at home during the day around 18 months after his molars erupted and he became a completely different kid).
He used the paci to fall asleep until he was 2.5 or so.
So we used it longer than we had intended, but for us it was a choice between the lesser of two evils - using the paci too long or having a miserable blubbering mess of a child.

I took my son’s away at 18 months. He was only allowed to have it at nap and bedtime, and it had to stay in his crib. When he started whining to have it at other times I took it away cold turkey. Took 2 days of adjustment and he was fine. I think it helped that he also sleeps with a “lovey” so he still had something else to use for comfort and as a sleep association.

My first still uses one at 18 months but we are trying to break it.  She only uses it for sleep.  My 3 month old will not take one but we keep trying because she sucks her fingers

This one somewhat does. She sleeps without one but during the day when she wants to suck she does alright with them. My son loved them and we started only doing one at bedtime and naptime at around 1 and completely cut it out at about 16 months. The slow transition to only sleeping then none (we went cold turkey when we took them away. I threw them all in the trash so we couldn't just cave and give him one) I think helped rather than going from any time all day to nothing.

Both my sons used/ use the passy (2 YO and a 10 week old).  We took it away gradually with my first starting around 10 months. Fitst just during the day so he only got it at naps, bedtime,  and in the car. Then around 11 months we started only giving them to him at bed and at a year we got rid of it all together.  He didn't really seem to notice when we took it away during the day. He fussed a bit when we took it away at night but we made sure to play with him a lot the first few days so he was ectra tired and he eventually fell asleep without it. We plan to do the same with baby 2 so I hope it works!!
