Tips and tricks to transfer baby from bassinet to crib?

Hey guys! 
   Can anyone give me any tips and tricks for transferring baby from a bassinet next to the bed, to a crib in the nursery next door? 
What worked for you? Are there any good books on this? Currently baby sleeps next to us in the bassinet and takes naps in another bassinet napper that’s a part of a pack n play (that we have downstairs). I’ve tried putting baby into the crib while napping.. but the naps turn out really short (like 20 mins as apposed to 1.5 hours- 2 hrs) and he wakes up crying. 
  I’ve been putting him in there periodically throughout the day so he can look at his mobile, which he enjoys. That’s all I’ve got so far.. I’m not in a hurry so I’m happy to take some time to make a gentle transition but my goal is to have him sleeping and napping in the crib. Thanks in advance! any advice will help!

We just started making our little one nap in hers everyday. Eventually she became comfortable in there....but it does take a little time. I would also put her in there while I put away her clothes or cleaned her room so she became comfortable with not only her crib but also her nursery in general.

Baby used to sleep with us and when I was ready for him to sleep in his crib I moved his crib to our room by our bed. Once he got pretty used to his crib (he was still waking up every 2-3 hours but he was at least sleeping in it) then I moved his crib to his room. He’s been in his crib in his room since about 3 months, I wanted to wait to move him next month (when he’s 6 months) but my boyfriend talks in his sleep, occasionally snores and he’s on call one week every month so baby’s sleep was getting disrupted. As soon as I moved his crib to his room he started sleeping for 5-7 hours at a time each night, if not all night.

our son transitioned great from the bassinet to crib at night.  Similarly, though, he would only nap for very short periods during day when placed in there. When you do it,  just stick with it. Dont bring him back to your room in the middle of the night because then he knows there's another option!

We started the night in the crib in the nursery and then moved back to the bassinet in the bedroom in the early morning (almost 3mo). That worked for a couple of weeks and then I started putting him back in the crib in the early morning. now 3 months later he comes to the bedroom about 6:30AM.

We haven't moved our daughter to her room yet, but we have transitioned her from her bassinet to her crib. We started by placing her bassinet in the crib so she could get use to that first. After few days, we tried removing the bassinet for the naps. I tried the naps first, to try and minimise the disruption to mine and my husband's sleep. If she just wasn't sleeping I would put the bassinet back for that nap and try again next time. I found she was moving herself to one side of the crib. I guess so it didn't feel so open for her. So I would put her in the crib slightly diagonally so her feet were still at the foot of the crib but her head was at the side. After about a week of her sleeping well for her naps, I tried it for the night sleep. If she wasn't settling, I would give it three attempts before putting the bassinet back in. But it didn't take long as she was already use to it from her naps. She has just started to snuggling in close to the side of the crib and sleeping on her side, and she seems to sleep more soundly like this.
