Are rodents scary?

So on the way home from a doctors appointment, I saw a cute little field mouse chilling by our stairs. And I felt so bad for him! He was clearly overheated and terrified. So I got some water and tried to give it to him. My husband freaked out and panicked when he saw it. He wondered why I was so eager to see it. And I had to explain that I had rats as pets when I was a kid. So I mean, I have to ask. Are rodents scary? Like mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc. XD

I think they're insanely adorable. I've wanted a pet rat for a while, but my daughter is very hyper active and loud and I feel that would traumatize any pet rats I may get so waiting til she becomes more mellow or moves out haha

I used to have hamsters and mice are adorable. 
I don’t get to excited when I find one in my house though lol, but I don’t kill them if I do find them usually just catch them and release them somewhere else.

They're cute but I'm not picking them up. They can carry plague bacteria and other nasty germs
