How to avoid using a pacifier?

Is it true that if we use a pacifier then the baby's teeth will be crooked? Please share your opinion?

Some babies don't like pacifiers, some just really have that urge to suck. If you have a baby that needs to suck, they'll end up sucking their thumb instead. The problem with thumb sucking is that they push their thumb up onto the roof of their mouth while they suck, and it permanently disfigures the roof of their mouth, making both primary and adult teeth crooked. Pacifiers are by far the lesser evil. Yes, if you let baby keep them past the age of 2(ish) their baby teeth may not be as straight as they could have been, but it will have no effect on their adult teeth. This picture shows how excessive thumb sucking deforms the teeth. Kids tend to have a favourite thumb, so it pushes up onto one side and creates a curved line for the teeth to sit.

Meh. My daughter never used one and I can tell her teeth are going to be crooked. I too never used a pacifier but my teeth were TERRIBLE I had braces for years

I heard from a dentist that bad teeth run in family’s. Both my husband and I have horrible teeth no matter how well we take care of them and sadly my oldest daughter is looking like her teeth will be crooked like mine were as a kid

it only affects teeth after a certain age from what I read. pacifiers during bedtime can actually reduce the risk of SIDS in infants

If your child will take a pacifier, I personally think it’s worth it. We didn’t start one soon enough with my daughter so she never truly caught on and now nothing will soothe her except my boob. Yes it can be a hard habit to break, but it is possible. As far as teeth goes, i think it’s only if it’s used later in life too.

I honestly don’t believe that. I never used it and my teeth are ugly. My son used it and his are fine. Also they’re his baby teeth so I’m thinking they would’ve not been crooked when the other teeth came in. 🤨🤨🤨 lol my brother used a pacifier and his teeth are ‘perfect’ 😕 I got braces in high school and that didn’t fix it.

My daughter used a 0acifier for 19 months. her teeth are just fine according to a dentist and her pediatrician. Now, I'm sure there would be an impact if they used it until 4 but most kids have them taken away by 2.

It can contribute to crooked teeth but you just need to take it away before they get too old

Not unless they are using it around 3-4. 
Pacifiers help reduce the risk of sids, the sucking reminds them to breathe. I wish my son was still using one at 10.5 months, but he self weaned around 6-7 months

It can, but look for an orthodontic pacifier and that will reduce some of the risk of palate malformation. I work at a dental office.. just saying.
