Teenagers?

Question

I realize that moms come in all shapes and sizes, but should young women have access to all of the community boards? There is some pretty frank talk on here about sex that seems like it should be at least moderated.

As a teen, I'll speak for myself rather than letting adult women/people judge what I can and can't handle viewing and knowing.

Sex is a natural part of most people's lives. I've had sex education in school (crazy I know) so I do know what sex is, be it oral, heterosexual, homosexual, anal, solo etc.

Sex is hardly anything new. No teenager is going to have the same reaction to the word "sex" as the people in Harry Potter do with "voldemort".

I tried to get pregnant when I was 18 and still in high school. My BF at the time was 24 and had a great job, house and nice vehicle. Let me tell you, I'm am soooo happy I didn't get pregnant. I had so much more I had to do in life that probably would of stopped me if I had a child. I had my first baby when I was 25 and can say that I very happy that I waited

I'm also not with that guy anymore, turns out he wa a lying cheater so things worked out for the best.

If these girls were my daughter I'd be hurt that she couldn't come to me about these things. Sex, relationship, babies?! 😔

I think it needs to be said that kids have access to the Internet and cell phones way younger these days... Most of the things they find online is WAY worse than on here. At least here it's coming from real women not porn or the media...hopefully they also have family and peers to talk to but boards like TTC, controversy corner and Adult Relationships shouldn't be accessible to those under 18

This topic pops up every few months. Just as an FYI, the app and CC in particular IS moderated. It's appears to be a small staff, so they can't catch everything right away. Gunce is usually the go to for this room. You can use the report button, or contact her directly, if you see something disturbing. There's been some requests for intracommunity admins, but they don't exist as of now.

Teens 13+ are allowed in most areas.  You don't have to be a mom to be here. I can see wanting to cap a few rooms at 18+, and I agree that it can be unsettling seeing comments from younger girls on more explicit topics.  I'd still rather they get accurate info from adults, than hear and repeat false info or old wives tales. There also are some younger ladies on here who's opinions I respect and admire.

I'm 17 and starting this fall will be a senior. Kids talk so much about sex now. There are even Middle schoolers that have lost their virginity because society is telling them that it's "cool" and it "feels good." You expose kids to media at a young age and you should honestly expect what your getting. I didn't know what sex was until I was in 7th grade but boys were still "icky" then. I'm am a virgin but I have fooled around. I know I'm not ready and my boyfriend respects that. Adults blame and judge teenagers for not  getting pregnant at young ages and having sex unprotected. Well, it shouldn't be uncomfortable for you to talk to your children about. You don't want them getting diseases or pregnant? Don't expect the teacher at school to teach them everything. Sometimes the best learning comes from Mom and Dad.

I'm 17, beginning college in the fall and I'm just here to track my period. I feel teenagers are already exposed to a lot of talk about sex, so there's not really a lot that's too "frank." Also, I feel it's responsible of them to have this app, especially if they're sexually active, where they can become more educated about this aspect of life as they grow into young women & help avoid unwanted pregnancies. There are also teen moms here that have obviously had to mature quicker than other teens their age. I do kind of agree pertaining to the 12 year olds, though. Some of the topics on here are a bit too mature for them. If it really bothers you, you can filter the age group's posts you don't want to see.

Age is but a number, it depends on maturity & sorry but some teenagers have the wisdom of an old person by the time they're 18/17 and others don't! Some had to grow up quickly and others have the mentality of not giving a shit. So it wouldn't be fair to "teenagers" in the community. By no means am I dissing this post at all cause I definitely feel you on this! I'm just saying, some teenagers are more reliable, independent, and more mature than adults nowadays. (Btw, I'm not a teenager)
