Potty Training?

Question

What is the appropriate age to start potty training? My son just turned 18 months and everyone is asking how potty training is going.. I have tried to start with him but I really feel like he's not ready. But everyone acts like I'm a lazy mom because he's not potty trained already..

Every child is different there is not set date for potty training. Moms love to brag about how early their child was potty trained bc so many moms think that parenting is a competition lol but it's not. 
Signs that your child is ready for potty training: verbal enough to say they need to go, recognition of a soggy or soiled diaper, able to pull down their pants, interested on the potty or watching you go potty

What worked for my son: I created a box of potty toys (mostly stuff from the dollar store) I told him he could only play with the toys while he was on the potty, if he made a "deposit" into the potty then he could keep a toy if he sat and didn't go then he had to put the toy back for next time. It encouraged him to want to.....

I'm a firm believer in not pushing them to be potty trained.. When they are ready it will make it so much easier. You can start introducing the potty but don't push..

Every child is different. Whatever you do, do not push you him if he is not ready yet. I started my daughter around 2 and a half and she is now fully potty trained at 3. We started off slow like just sitting on the potty, taking her with us into the bathroom and explaining how to go on the potty. What also helped was letting her go commando at first (no diaper, undies or pants). I really don't believe Pull-ups work at all and confuse them because they feel comfortable going to the bathroom in them because they feel just like a diaper. We would reward her for using the potty as well and as she got the hang of it we lessened the treats and prizes.

My daughter was adamant she wasn't using the toilet right up until she was two and a half ish, scared witless of the toilet and anything associated with it. So I left her to her own devises and low and behold now at just turned three, she's dry day and night. Did both within weeks of each other and she instigated it all by herself told me she didn't want to wear nappies and then said she didn't want to wear nappies to bed. All children are different and you can't push them, ignore the snotty nosed textbook parents, your little one will show you when they are ready, it will happen and that's all you need to look forward too. My nephew just turned 3 and still not potty trained. Wait till they are ready. It comes with time. Not all children want to be trained st the same age. So give him time. I'm sure he will come around. And when people ask tell them the truth. It's no one's choice but your own and the babies!

Sit on the potty, made it fun and relaxing no pressure and he loved getting to keep a toy, he thought it was a great reward and caught on really quickly.

I started potty training my son at 2 years and 2 months and he got it with in 5 days. It's been about 4 weeks now and he tells me everytime he needs to go or I'll ask very little while. He still naps and sleeps in pull ups but other than that he is always wearing an underwear. When we are out and about he tells me he needs to go so I'll take him to the public bathrooms. He's good with peeing and pooping. Of course he has had accidents but now he understands more. I hope I helped.

I potty trained my niece. she is actually 12 now...omg I feel old....but when she was just about a year and a half she lived at my parents house were I lived and I potty trained her during summer vacation from high school. 
she showed interest in it so we started to train her and it was great! obviously she had accidents but it went really well. we bought her big girl undies and she would wear them at home. and when we went out she wore a pull up or a diaper. and at night she would wear a pull up or diaper. 
but whenever she went on the toilet or her potty chair we would give her a princess sticker to add to her sticker chart. she was so cute!!

My son is 21 months and still not interested in the toilet. Your little one will let you know when they're ready

My so is 19mths and I rushed and got him a potty chair. All he does with the potty chair is wear different pieces as hats. When they are ready we as parents will know. My dr. told me to wait until he is 2 and then start potty training.
