so I have a four year old boy who is just the sweetest kid. he says hi to everyone loves singing dancing and running around. he has so much energy it's unbelievable. he is smart but it's like he doesn't like showing.

he refuses to listen to me but he will listen to his father with no issue. his dad will give him a look and he will straighten up right away. for me though I'm constantly yelling at him to get him to listen. if I don't he will think I'm kidding... I'm tired of always having to raise my voice to get him to sort if listen.

right now I've been fighting with him since 10 pm to go to bed and it's 1:50 am... we have a cat he is always messing with and chasing around. the cat hates him and will scratch him all the time but for some reason he just doesn't get it no matter how bad the scratch is....

how do I get him to listen and respect me? I feel like I'm doing something wrong.... I am a stay at home mother so it's just him and me most of the time. it's just when Dad is home and I scold him for something (I'll admit it's a 1000 times a day) he will look at his dad to see if he is paying attention and if Dad isn't he will continue to do what I told him to stop doing.

I just don't understand. how do I make him respect me like he does his dad.
