Will you wait to cut the cord

I've never even heard of this until now, I really know nothing about it. What do yall think about it?

I told my doctor I planned on delaying Cord clamping and she told me it’s standard practice for the hospitals now (in my area) to delay ! Which is awesome

My instructions have been with my first two, and are with this one, to wait until the cord stops pulsing completely. It’s a few minutes, but trust me, there’s plenty of others things for folks to do once baby comes out than rush to clamp the cord! 😂

I wanted to do that and was told it was routine at the practice, but the OB to the practice delivered my baby and said, has it been one minute? And then cut the cord :( wish she had waited a few more minutes

It is my hospital’s policy to delay cord clamping for like 2-3 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised.

This is now the norm in most progressive hospitals and birthing centers but it doesn’t hurt to ask what their practice is. We’re definitely delaying clamping.

I’ve heard about some of the benefits but we didn’t have a choice the first time because my daughter needed oxygen and to be suctioned right away. This time my son will be born via section but it’s a rush to get the placenta out so we don’t have a choice this time either.

Delayed cord clamping is extremely common now and most OB's practice it without even mentioning it to you. The hospital system I'm delivering with has a policy of a minimum wait of 2 minutes before they're allowed to cut the cord, but you can request to wait longer if you want.
