I’m a teacher with A LOT of tattoos. I’m also a teacher was has been won “Teacher of the Month” many times, I also won “Teacher of the Year” in my district, and I have also been recognized as an outstanding educator by one of our local universities. Tattoos don’t make the person, or in this case, the teacher. 
Do I purposely try to show them off or bring attention to them...absolutely not. Do I do my best to cover them during parent meetings and conferences, yes.  When students see them (which is often) and they ask about them (which is more seldom) I politely answer their questions and move on. I tell them we can talk body modification during free time like lunch. That’s usually enough to wrap up the conversation. I teach high school kids btw.
