Crib- Padding or Mattress???

Question

So the crib I got comes with a 1inch padding and we got the mattress to go with it.
My question is do we use one or the other? Or both at the same time? Mattress top/padding bottom or padding top/ mattress bottom? FTM here 🙋🏻‍♀️

Firstly, congrats mama:)! I put the padding on the bottom, mattress on top. I don’t know if that’s right though haha. First time mama here too! Im curious if that’s correct as well.

Look at the instructions for the crib. Without knowing exactly what crib and padding you are talking about I would assume it is mattress or padding. I know my MIL bought a mini crib that came with a thin mattress pad (padding). It was designed to be used with the pad or with a mattress not with both. An baby should always sleep on a very firm surface, so I would think mattress plus padding would be too soft.
