Breastfeeding a 2 day old baby?!

How many times do you feed a 2 day old baby? 
Is it suppose to hurt this bad?
How do I get it stop hurting so bad?

My supply tanked when I didn’t know to wake the baby. They eat about every 2 hours and sometimes cluster feed. If it hurts, the baby isn’t latching right. There should be a lactation consultant at the hospital to help you and definitely get the nipple cream

newborns should eat every 2-3 hours. 
Breastfeeding the first few weeks hurts. Sorry. All you can do is make sure you are getting a great latch and keep focusing on that.  
You can try using lanolin cream, I personally didn’t like it. My kids hated the way it felt and I hated how it made my bras feel. I just expressed a little breast milk on my nipple and surrounding area and let it air dry for a minute then slipped my bra back on. 
It does get easier. Promise. You just have to get over the hurdle.

Every two hours and yes it hurts in the beginning it probably won’t by the end of the week and they make ointments for your nipples or cabbage leaves or other little packs that stick to your boobs I’ll look some up for you I forget what they are called

...it was painful for me for quite a while (weeks) bc of a poor latch in the beginning I had blisters etc. that I had to nurse through...I did heal with Jack Newman’s nipple cream (its an rx but worked well for me) and who am I kidding really....its painful again bc he is 6months with 4 teeth and sometimes slips off ...and to be honest...we prob havent yet mastered a great latch but just trying to do our best...I did want to quit so many times but took things a day at a time👍🏻💛hang in there~*

My nipples were super sore the first week. It got better. I used lanolin cream and also rubbed expressed breast milk on my nipples. They actually had scabs on them at one point. My daughter latches well, but sometimes missed the mark, so I have to relatch. You can stick you finger between baby’s cheek and your breast to break the seal and try again. It still hurts occasionally when my baby latches, but only for a few seconds. She’s almost 4 weeks old now.

No its not suppose to hurt when the baby latches, you should see if the hospital offers free breastfeeding classes or if you are in the hospital ask to see a lactation consultant.  Your nipple most likely will be sore for a period of time its more of a burning sensation but not while the baby is latched.

It literally just takes time as long as you have good latch the pain will go away. Just make sure you use the ointment and before you put the ointment on them let them dry
