School Rules.

Auburn

I’m not quite sure if this is particularly controversial or even debatable but I’m gonna give it a shot!

So here it does, my sister is a junior IN High School and I feel like their “rules” are a little absurd, for instance, you can’t dye your hair anything but a natural color, so blonde, brown or black. And unless you’re a natural red head, that color is out of the question, piercing I sorta understand, but if you do have one, it can’t be a hoop, nose, ears, lip, you can’t have a hoop ring on your body, also can’t have a septum, eyebrow, tongue, ect.. For prom, you have to dress like your gender, if you are a female, you must wear a dress, if you are male you must wear a tux, two girls or two guys cannot go together because it “draws attention” same things for graduation, you have to wear a dress, and heels or closed toe flats. And men, dress pants and nice shoes. now I understand they can have a dress code and so what, but the punishment is what gets me! Let’s say you come to school one day, and you decided you get pink bangs, you are immediately sent home and suspended, until your hair is dyed back it’s natural color. If you come to school, with a hoop ring in your nose, you must take it out, and you have in school suspension for how ever many days. I personally don’t feel like they have the right to suspend you until you change your hair color! I feel like it takes personal expression away from you. So am I wrong for feeling this way? Do they have the right as a school to tell you, how to dress and have your hair?

*UPDATE* For all of those asking, it’s a public school!
