Public school vs Private school

I would just like to know everyone's opinion on why they would choose one or the other. My son's father is not very happy about my decision to send our son to private school and other than the fact that there are uniforms he hasn't given me a very good reason as to why he should not go. I feel like this private school will challenge my son more than a public school at this point and also i feel like since i pay for everything it is my choice. What do you ladies think about sending kids to private school or would you prefer public school?
