My story it was bit challenging but thankfully all ended well
Born on 8/8/18 Liam made his entrance into the world at 10:58 am. Thankful to have a healthy little boy after all the scares this labor put me through. I was induce 8/7 around 2:30 they started the first med a little pill that goes by the cervix. That went well and by quick at 6:30 they gave me a break and before starting the second dose. Unhooked the monitor bcs being in bed for four hours is not fun. Around 7:30 they started the second dose. Then by 9:00 I was having some intense contractions, tried other method of pain relief including the tub. Unfortunately it made me sick to my stomach and had to get out. The plan was to get an epidural before it got to intense anyway due to my first going so fast (never got the chance with my first to have it).
So around 10:00 I had the epidural placed which felt like it took forever and hurt more then I thought it would. Not even five minutes after it was placed my vitals started to drop bp going super low. Next thing I know the whole team was in there and then some trying to get my vitals back up. I was scared but couldn’t express how I was feeling or why because the epidural I had done it job pretty well I was numb but also really loopy and out of it. They hooked me up to oxygen for Liam and I was getting sick to my stomach again.Thankfully the team got everything under control. However they had to stop meds for inducing until 3 am due to my vitals not being stable.
When they started again they started pitocin. My water broke at 5:30 by 8:30 am I felt pressure was only 8 cm but 100% station 0. They wanted to wait before starting any practice pushing just because of the complications from the epidural. Then 9:30 I felt the urge to push they checked and it was go time.
However Liam wasn’t coming without a grand entrance did a few pushes he was ok but he got stuck behind my pelvic bone next thing I know they were hooking me to oxygen again nobody explained anything as about 15 people rushed into the room. I started to freak out was crying. They explain his vitals had dropped and they might have to assist getting him out. Said it was important that I pushed with everything I got. (Already was but when your baby in trouble you get an extra boost of strength.) gave a couple of pushes started throwing up again. So was pushing with the contractions in between barfing which is harder then it sounds bcs they want you to not breath hold your breath while pushing. However after a couple more pushes his vitals leveled out. It still took awhile for him to arrive like I said he was stuck behind my pelvic bone but I was able to deliver without assistance of other medical interventions.
