Hijab etc

Asalaamu alaikum sisters :)

Hope you’re all well InshaAllah.

I have a quick request for you. My next blog post is the huge topic of hijab - by this I mean everything to do with covering.

This is something we’ve discussed in numerous contexts in this group, but I am posting to ask if anybody would be willing to give me a brief summary of what they choose to wear to cover, and your reasons why.

If you are happy for me to quote you in the post, it will be completely anonymous. Some questions to guide your responses (again, I stress they only need to be brief):

1. What form of Islamic clothing do you choose to wear, if any? (Headscarf, abaya, niqab etc)

2. Do you consider your clothing choices to be primarily religious or more cultural?

3. What does your clothing mean to you personally? Is it simply physical modesty, or is there a deeper connection?

4. How have your views about hijab changed over time, if at all?

Thank you in advance to anyone who responds! It’s such a deeply personal subject which I don’t feel nearly equipped to deal with from my experience alone. I think it will be helpful for my readers to hear viewpoints from a variety of Muslim women :)
