What to do after positive HPT??

I don’t have a GP or a family doctor or OB. Normally when I get super sick or injured I just go to a doc in the box which is hardly ever. I have health insurance through work so I never have to pay anything but I just don’t know what to do if I were to get a positive test? Everytime I’ve called to become a pt at like a gyno they always say I need a referral from a GP but I don’t have one? Also if I were to go to a doc in the box after a positive to get “confirmed” do I take that to a gyno/ob and try to become a pt that way? I feel like it’s such a dumb question. I’ve just always avoided doctors offices bc growing up in a household with a hypochondriac was very tiring and I saw a lot of stuff that was unnecessary and bothered hospital staff so I’ve always been too scared of that.

You need to see a doctor for a general health checkup and to confirm your pregnancy. I’d say go to a general practice doctor for the basic check up and pregnancy test confirmation, as they can do both. From there they can give you a referral for an OBGYN as needed. But don’t put it off. Pregnancy is very much a reason to see the doctor frequently, and they are very understanding and encourage it.

Try to get an ObGyn, you'll want one during your pregnancy so it's best to get one now, they can even make sure everything is in tip top shape for ttc.

Go to a GP first and then get a referral to a OBGYN. You’ll honestly want both. And my GP is also a practicing OBGYN and pediatrician. It has worked out for us. I’d try to get in at a family medicine practice.
