What are you doing with your 1yr old?

Question

Mommas that are home with your babies 24/7 - what do you do with them all day? Activities? Outings? Do you sit on the couch at all?

We wake up, eat breakfast, he plays with his toys until nap time, he naps, eats lunch, we sometimes go outside, sometimes to the park, sometimes we just chill at home all day long! It all just depends. We definitely stay at home a lot! Just play all day & yes we watch movies & stuff (he loves coco!) so we sit on the couch!

My daughter really likes to get out and gets fussy if we stay in the house too long. We go outside a lot - at home we have a water table and a swing, we have a zoo membership and the zoo is close so we go there, a nearby community center has a play room for toddlers, the local mall has an indoor play place (which seems to be a breeding ground for the flu in the winter but was nice this summer), we go to parks and playgrounds, a public pool, take walks in her wagon, and a lot of time she just accompanies me on errands (grocery stores, Target, etc). I work part-time so I’m home with her solo 2 full days a week.

We’re home most days. He gets up, I feed him, then he plays with his toys/halfway pays attention to whatever movie I put on while I try to clean/do laundry/cook. He goes down for a nap about 2.5hrs after he gets up and sleeps until afternoon. I clean/do laundry/cook/eat during that time. He wakes up from nap, eats twice his weight in dinner, plays for a while, then back to bed.

We very rarely just sit at home doing nothing. We wake at 7am. I dress my daughter and do her hair and all that while her breakfast cooks. While she eats, I respond to emails (I’m self employed). Once she’s done eating, I clean her up and we go for a 5 mile run. Once we’re back she has a snack while I do some yoga or an ab workout or something (and stretching). Then it’s playtime until about 11 o’clock or so when we have lunch. Nap time is from 11:30am go 2/2:30pm. I use this time to work as much as possible. Once she’s up, she has a snack and we get out and do something like the park, pool, beach, mommy and me fitness classes, play dates, museums, the zoo, coffee dates with a friend, errands, etc. It varies everyday but we always get out. We’re home by 5 o’clock which is when my husband comes home. One of us will cook dinner while the other plays with our little one (usually I’ll cook since he misses her all day). We have dinner between 5:30 and 6pm and then transition into our bedtime routine. He’ll put her to bed at 6:30 and then I spent 6:30-8pm finishing up work before we climb into bed for the night.

I just went back to work my daughter is almost 2. when she was a year old she'd wake up nurse and eat her solids. play games...watch youtube kids..nurse...sleep for about 3 hrs...wake up eat her snack...play with her dad and granny and siblings while I start dinner...play play play...eat dinner...bathe...cuddled while singing her songs and or reading a story with mommy and daddy before daddy left for work... nurse until she fell asleep

I have twins and It’s absolute hell if we stay home all day. They won’t watch tv so we keep busy. We’re in socal so right now it’s hot as heck so we can’t do our usual outdoor stuff like walks, swings, water table, wagon rides. We go somewhere every day after their first nap - always. That lets us be out for like 2 hours to run an errand or meet friends or go to the indoor playplace. Then we’re home for lunch and then more playtime and nap. Then somehow we switch playrooms/make indoor playdates/have visitors to make it thru the rest of the day. I get lonely fast and they get bored fast so we like to change the scenery but have somewhat of a schedule too.

Most days we stay home. We do go out in our backyard to play once a day, as long as its not over 105 (I hate TX). Inside we mostly read and play with learning toys, but I do try to come up with new things to try. Still find those very hit or miss at this age.  She takes swimming once a week, and loves it. We try to make it to an indoor play area or park at least once every other week.
