Rainbow baby born on due date!
My rainbow is here! On August 8, 2018 at 3am, my husband and I arrived at our local hospital for a scheduled induction since I was carrying a very stubborn baby, lol. They placed us in a labor and delivery room and began prepping everything. The pitocin drip was started at about 3:45 am and contractions finally started about 4:15/4:30 am. About an hour later at 5:20 am my water broke. I was tolerating the contractions very well until my water broke so with the help of my nurses, I decided to try the birthing ball which definitely helped, the only problem was the stubborn baby in my belly who did not under any circumstances want to stay on the monitor. Unfortunately, due to my stubborn baby I was forced to get back in the bed and lay still so they could monitor baby's heart rate. Once I was forced to be still, I could no longer deal with the pain of contractions so at noon I opted for an epidural which helped tremendously. After that things progressed rather quickly. My husband joked as he left the room to grab some lunch that as soon as he sat down with his food, that's when I would call and say that baby was coming. Guess what, he was right! Not too long after he left, they checked and it was time to get the doctor and start pushing! With 6 pushes, and the assistance of a vacuum due to the cord being around baby's neck, our surprise gender rainbow baby was born! We had a perfect little baby boy and I could not control the overwhelming emotions inside me and I just cried and cried! Our sweet boy came into the world at 2:48 pm weighing 7lbs and 20.5 inches long, we named him River Elliston Skye Blue. He is absolutely perfect! His great grandpa and big sister Skyelar, both of whom we lost last year a week apart from each other, did an amazing job picking him. His four sibligs are already obsessed.
