Working at home?

I have always had physically demanding jobs that took me away from home most of the year. Now that I'm in the process of starting a family I have been thinking a lot about finding work closer to home or in home type work. Would be nice to be a mum able to bring a little money in. Does anyone have any experience or input on home type jobs? Any ideas or feedback is appreciated:)
