Iv antibiotics ...safe?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and on my second kidney infection in 2 weeks. The meds they prescribe to me I'm allergic to so the doctors said the only other way to treat it is through iv antibiotics. Has anyone else had to do this while pregnant? Is it safe?

My friend was hospitalized with a kidney infection at 8 weeks pregnant and she received IV antibiotics. All medications have risk. But in this case the benefits of treating the infection outweighs the risk of getting IV antibiotics. Leaving the infection untreated could cause complications for you and the baby.

Did you have to be admitted for the IV antibiotics? Have mastitis that is not responding to a 10 course of penicillin and they are discussing IV antibiotics

I got a kidney infection when I was 13 weeks and they gave me IV antibiotics to get rid of them too.. I think They just want to get rid of kidney infections ASAP cause it's not good to have those sort of infections while pregnant.. But I took them and oral antibiotics then. I'm 22w4d now and my son is just fine :) feel better God bless 💙

I had IV antibiotics two weeks ago when I was in the hospital with kidney stones. They are safe. Not ideal but nothing is. They wiped my digestive system out so take probiotics as soon as you're done!

They give you IV antibiotics when you go into labour if you have the strep B bacteria, so I don't see why it wouldn't be safe. But definitely talk to your doctor about the risks/benefits of having the medication while pregnant.
