What type of ultrasound did you get at 20 week scan?

I had both and I was not expecting the vaginal one. I felt unprepared for that.

Why did they do both? I've only had that on first apt(8weeks) and never heard them doing it that late in the pregnancy .. Sorry you had to!

They do both bc vaginally they check placenta and cervix

I had to have both yesterday because he would not sit still! They couldn't get a good picture of his heart or profile or my cervix (which I didn't think made sense). The tech honestly didn't seem to get any pictures that she didn't already have by doing so.

My first pregnancy, I only had the abdominal ultrasounds for my anatomy scan. This pregnancy though, he did both, but had his female assistant insert for him, thankfully lol. The transvaginal was because he wanted to see a better look at my cervix and the placement of a bloodvessel and nerve from my placenta splitting into two parts. I have to go back on Wednesday for another anatomy scan.

They wanted to do both on me but my doctor said to refuse the internal one because at my last ultrasound I was told that I have placenta previa. I will need an internal one later in my pregnancy to determine the accurate position of my placenta but for now he doesn't want anything to touch my cervix. I think it depends on the clinic

I have had both at every scan, I've had at least 11 scans so far, but I had a twin which I lost a week ago, they used the vaginal to check, cervix  and check for placenta issues. Luckily my lil boy is still alive and well and my cervix is thick and closed. Which is a relief. I was afraid I'd lost both. It's still rough knowing one didn't make it. I have to have a scan every two weeks now:/ but happy they are keeping a close eye on my lil man

I had both this past Monday at my 20wks scan.  She said the vaginal was to look at my cervix to see if anything was wrong with it & whether it was opened or closed.
