i want a RINGGG

ok ladies now im in that stage where i want to get married . not even married but engaged ive been with my dude for 3 years now. and im like omg i dont want anybody but him .but idk if he actually feels the same way . i mean he tells me he wants to marry me. and all this and he shows me he loves me alot despite all of our differences but i just like can not wait any longer i feel like if i dont get him to do it ill lose him .am i wrong for this feeling . should i wait till he is ready to do it should i speak up and let him know how i feel ?
