Does he get to be treated like a king?

Question

As the ONLY bread winner (your S/O) does he get to be treated like a king?? 
After all, being a stay home mom, you are working & usually with little to no breaks & with over time. 
Do you expect little to no help or relieve from him with the home & kids? 
At the end of the day, at night does he still ask you do do stuff for him once YOU'VE put the kids to bed, cooked & cleaned? 
Do you think it would be fair for him to be treated like royalty while you're tired too?
It was his decision & his families to want me not work.

What is this, 1938? Fuck no to all of it. My husband comes home and does his share of parenting and housework. He helped make the kids. He lives in the space too. He dirties dishes so he can wash them. It’s not like you’ve been doing nothing all day—you’ve been working too!! So it’d be absolute bullshit if you had to keep working past 5pm and he just made you do everything.
Also, red flag that he and your in laws MAKE you stay home and not work?!!? That coupled with the apparent attitude makes me concerned that this could lead to abuse in the future, and you’ll feel that you have no way (financially or otherwise) to leave.

My household is flipped and I'm the working mom and my husband is a stay at home dad. From my time on mat leave, I learned that full time parenting is hard! When I'm at home, I try to take over child care duties as much as possible, to give my husband a break and also to actually spend time with my son.
I don't really understand why someone would be put on a pedestal because of a paycheck.

Then you make a decision for yourself, be a big girl, get a job. Sounds like you do not enjoy the responsibility of being a SAHM and wife.. I’ve been one for 13 years and it has its ups and downs for sure.. I’m sure he doesn’t enjoy the responsibility of being the sole provider for the family when you complain. Get out and get a job

The way I see it as a SAHM I work from 6:30am-8pm. My husband leaves at 6am and gets home at 6pm. He doesn't get to work 2 hours less than me just because he brings home the bacon. That being said, I treat my husband with respect and kindness. He deserves a lot and I enjoy taking care of him, our son, and the house. If we both treat each other as more important than ourselves, our relationship will be nothing but strong.

For quite a while, I’ve been the only “bread winner” due to my husband’s health issues. I don’t get treated like a king/queen, but my husband is awesome and helps out a lot around the house. He knows that when I’m done working, I want to spend time with my son. Usually I’ll bathe my son, read him books and help him brush his teeth.. the whole bedtime routine, and my husband will do the dishes and other light cleaning during that time. The work is never done around our house, so neither one of us get much of a break until 11 at night.

It's his kid (soon to be 2), too. He ended up unofficially responsible for putting him to bed most nights, because he doesn't have all that much time with him during the week otherwise. And usually takes him off my hands for a few hours on the weekend so I can get some stuff done. Occasionally cooks (we have different tastes) because he loves cooking (leaves a huge mess, though). Seriously discourage him from "helping" with cleaning and laundry, always manages to mess my systems up and it takes me way longer to fix what he did than it would have for me just to do it myself.

He is already getting treated like a king because you cook, clean, and watch the kids!!! Not all women can do that. 
Being the bread winner is def stressful and he may feel entitled to being treated a certain way because of it. 
What’s your definition of being treated like royalty? If he’s expecting massages or something like that than hellll nahhhh!! Lol! 
Being the breadwinner doesn’t stop him from being a father so he should help. Y’all created a family together! 
Maybe you should consider a part time job just to have some time for you. I don’t know how realistic that is or if you have the room to find someone to watch your kids.

I’m a SAHM as well and I feel like if my husband is out every day breaking his back (he’s a mechanic who works outside-we live in the south so the heat is horrible) for myself and our two kids then when he gets home, I’m going to treat him like a king. But, my husband treats me like a queen and will still clean and help with our daughter (our son is due in December). I don’t expect him to do that though, my daughter is school aged so while she is at school I’m cooking and cleaning and keeping the house in a tidy order. If you feel like being a SAHM is too much, then I would suggest looking for a part time outside the home so you don’t get burnt out.
