Lactose intolerance???! PLEASE help

My baby is three weeks old. She was on gerber good start gentle but her doctor switched her to soothe due to constipation issues. She has been on this formula for a week now and is still not pooping daily, when she does poop it’s super dark green, extremely fussy 24/7, cries while eating, and you can literally hear her tummy gurgling all the time. :( She also is always trying to eat, like the formula isn’t filling her up! She’s eating 3-4 ounces every 2-3 hours and still trying to eat more after finishing! Do you guys think I should switch her to soy formula? Does this sound like lactose intolerance/sensitivity to you?

This sounds like something I’d bring up to your pediatrician ASAP.  They should be able to help you get to the root of the issue and find a suitable alternative formula if needed.

That’s how my son was also while drinking Enfamil Gentlease, we had even tried gripe water and gas drops and nothing would seem to work. So we switched him to Enfamil prosobee and he is doing much better. He’s 8 weeks old now and takes 4-5 oz every 2-3 hours.

Some babies that young only poop every few days. My friend's baby pooped every 3 days and her pedi said it was fine. Mjne would go back n forth between 4 times a day or every few days. Try bicycle exercises, tapping with your finger above her belly button and rubbing gently in the direction of her colon. You can also try Mylicon if she is uncomfortable with gas.

Lactose intolerance is super rare in babies but milk protein intolerance (allergy) is a lot more common. All the symptoms you’re describing fit with the diagnosis, but you would have seem similar symptoms with the other formula too since they both contain dairy. You could try a hypoallergenic formula like Alimentum or Neocate at the recommendation of your pediatrician.

Not sure on the lactose part, her belly just may not like this formula. Gentlease formula is milk based too so she would of had the same problem. 
but switching to soy can cause your baby to be constipated again.

My baby is on Similac Pro-Sensitive and its helped her fussy and gassiness. She’s 3 weeks old too, we just started her on it since she would be up all night screaming even after we fed her and changed her. She’s calmed down quite a bit. 
There’s Similac Pro-Sensitive, Total Comfort, Pro-Advance, there’s one specifically for gassy/fussiness. They’re all color coded by which one it is and it’ll tell you on the box which one it’s for too.
