To medicate or not? If you have herpes.

Are there any of you who don't medicate?
And if so what do y'all do instead?

I take the pill plus other supplements like l lysine, zinc, probiotics and vitamin C. Garlic Echinacea Elderberry(herbal antivirals) are suppose to help. Apple cider vinegar. The goal is to keep your immune system top notch to fight against hsv.

I take olive leaf and garlic supplements everyday. The olive leaf boosts my immune system, and I rarely even get sick anymore. But if I do get an outbreak, I mix up olive oil with fresh garlic and put it on there. It kinda smells, but it like pulls everything out of the sores (which is sorta gross but amazing), and relieves the burning and itchiness. It works well for me, personally. I just refuse to use medication for it when I can easily help myself with natural things.
Anything that will boost your immune system is great. I think it's all just preference on what will work best for you because everyone is different.

I’m prescribed valacyclovir and when I first started taking it I noticed that it had an effect on my liver, which is a side effect. I fortunately am not a symptomatic sufferer. I actually contracted the disease back in 2015 and didn’t get diagnosed until 2018. I also have not had a genital OB since my initial. I don’t take my meds regularly anymore nor do I take the shit load of vitamins I bought. Still don’t have OB and as far as I know I have not passed it to anyone. I keep my stress to a minimum but I have a pretty strong immune system thankfully.

I just use lidocaine cream my doctor gave me and let it run its course. I’ve only had two breakouts and they each only lasted a week.
