TTC and False Negatives

Two weeks ago we tried for the first time during OvU. We did it everyday during the 6 day window. On Sunday i was supposed to start so i took a test it came back negative. I am three days late which could be due to irregular period (usually comes between a 5 day window each month) but I’m not having any period symptoms i normally get. Can you get false negatives? When should i take another test to see if i am in fact preggo?

Such bad timing that this month my period would decide not to be on schedule. Throwing such a curve ball.
