Wasn’t expecting this
So on Monday, Aug 13 I went in to the doctors due to having consistent high blood pressure. My doctor decided that it would be best for me and baby to induce me that night (what a shock considering I was only 38+2). So we left the doctors at 5 and had to be at the hospital at 7:30.
They put in cervadil, I wasn’t dilated but was 80% effaced. They left it in overnight and at 5:30am I got up to use the bathroom and my water ended up breaking on its own. So they took cervadil out and started pitocin. I wanted to labor as long as I could without getting the epidural and my only options were laughing gas (which helped me focus on my breathing) or just get the epidural. I ended up laboring in the shower with hot water for about 30-45 min and then decided it was time for epidural. After the epidural was put in around 11pm they checked me and I was already dilated to 6cm. I felt pressure around 12pm and she checked and I was 10cm and she could see his head.
I did a few practice pushes and he was born at 12:56pm! Levi weighed 6lbs 3oz and is doing absolutely wonderful. 💙
I wasn’t expecting my first labor, and induction nonetheless, was only 7 hours. What a wonderful experience. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
