Injections or hysterectomy?

I’m only 23 and only have one kid (10 month old daughter) I’ve been dealing with endometriosis for years, and we’ve been trying to make it bearable. Birth control hasn’t worked, and neither has the laparoscopy surgeries ( I’ve had two so far). My gyno is a specialist for endometriosis (he treated my mother for hers which is why I go to him) and he told me with how severe mine is my best two options at this point is the injections that put you into temporary meno pause or to have my uterus and ovaries taken out. Me and my fiancé aren’t sure if we want more kids or not in the future so it’s pretty hard to decide. Has anyone done the injections and if so how did that work?

Hey! So sorry to hear of your suffering. Endo sucks. But, if you’re not sure you are finished with growing your family don’t rush to do a hysterectomy. It’s ineffective treatment for  endometriosis as the basis of endometriosis is tissue growing outside the uterus and ovaries where it shouldn’t so removing the uterus does not correct the issue. If you have adenomyosis then hysterectomy is a viable option but I have heard and met firsthand many ladies who were told the same, get a hysterectomy for your Endo... and none of the many I met felt any relief afterwards (unless of course they were diagnosed with adenomyosis) and were left feeling worse as they rushed to remove the uterus and still were not better! I urge you to find a true Endometriois Excision Specialist. If you have Facebook there is a wonderful group for sharing educational info on Endo AND it has a list of vetted Endo Excision Experts listed by area, so you could look up a doctor based on where you live. It is Called Nancy’s Nook. Please consider this, I have seen multiple ladies suffering horrible that had their lives turned around by an Excision Specialist.
The injections to put you in chemical menopausal, please join Nancy’s Nook and read some of the articles they post on this drug, it’s side effects (some of which are permanent) and it’s inability to treat Endo or Endo pain are outlined there. Many doctors still believe that this awful drug should be used, I know quite a few ladies personally they tried this at some point and regret it years later. Its hard on the body! (Which is why you cannot be on it long term) and endometriosis lesions are proven to create their own estrogen so shutting the ovaries down chemically has no affect on their ability to produce estrogen and grow. Dr. Andrew S. Cook in California wrote a book “Stop Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain: What Every Woman and Her Doctor Need to Know” which is on amazon and I highly recommend! He outlines the studies that show these lesions growing estrogen on their own and other outdated therapies. He and Dr. Sinervo in Atlanta Georgia (he runs the Center For Endo Care which is Amazing!) offer free consults if you send your records for review to them. Dr.Sinervo is a miracle worker with Endo, both he and his office are kind hearted and willing to share information and support at no cost, even if you do not elect to have surgery with him.
