absolutely. 
bad people will do bad things, good people will do good things. 
just like any other one of us nannies do your research. ask for background checks, water safety, CPR, experience, schooling. 
I have walked into a nanny job without a resume and was hired. they had NO CLUE who I was. I could have done terrible things. but was it because I was a female I got the job? who knows. 
I also worked in daycare and sadly we had no male teachers, and we really should have. a lot of our kids had a lack of male role models in their life. but parents felt "uncomfortable" . what does this teach our children?

If he was just as qualified as the female option and i had no reason to be hesitant. I would. 
But I’m a paranoid freak and i wouldn’t leave my baby with anyone these days. Crazy shit happens left and right.

My two girls, ages 6 and 8, are very fond of the male figures in their lives. I think a male babysitter would be perfect for them. I’d have to know them well enough though. Although that also goes for a female babysitter as well.

I had a guy babysitter growing up, his name was Jason and our family loves him. So much he became a normal family friend after we were to old to need a babysitter. We took him on vacation once or twice, and when he moved away 😢 he invited us down for a big music festival one time :) men and women are both capable of loving and caring for children, just as women and women have the ability to be bad people, just be careful with anyone you have watching your kids :)
