Needle in back for c section

Is there an alternative to that needle they put in your spine before surgery? I’m already having anxiety about it. I’m super tough and have a high pain tolerance and with my last c section the nurses kept talking about how great I was while they put it in and I was so calm but ugh I hate it. And the nurse that did it last time took it out and put it back in like 6 times despite me telling her it was fine and in the middle but she didn’t listen and kept taking it out. I think her repeatedly doing it is what’s cussing my anxiety about it. Is there another way they can numb you? If it were possible I’d just refuse this c section and give birth naturally at home, but I know that would be dangerous and isn’t possible.
