OBGYN Visit

Hi, I am just wondering if it is normal to not be scheduled to see the OBGYN until you're 10 weeks. This is my 1st pregnancy and when I called she asked the first day of my last period and then told me 10 weeks would be the first week of September and scheduled me then. I asked if there was anything else I should do before then b/c it is my 1st and she said no. I have to wait 10 weeks to make sure my baby is OK?
