Vaccines?

NOTE: This is not intended to be a debate about vaccines. There's one of those over in Controversy Corner.

I'm already pregnant. Do I get vaccines at this point? The last time I got anything other than a flu shot was 1999.

You get the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis it's called Tdap. I am a professional in vaccine preventable diseases for the state of California. :)

You will get a TDAP (whopping cough) vaccine anywhere from 27-32 weeks (depending on office/doc/your schedule)

At one point they actually give you the option to get vaccines. I got 3 shots at an early appointment and then one more (cant remember what it was) at my 30w appointment.

Your doctor can do a blood test to see what you have as immunazation and if you are missing any he may recomend you get something. I am missing the Hep B vaccine and he said i could get it now or after baby comes. It's not urgent so decided to get it later.

My doctors office doesn't carry the Tdap in house and said I would get it at the hospital, but I wanted to get it before so the baby would receieve some of the immunities. I had the OB write a script and I took it to a pharmacy (Walgreens) with a walk in clinic to get it. I had already had the flu shot before I got pregnant since my work offers them in October.

My SIL didn't get the tdap during her pregnancy, but they made her get it before they would discharge from the hospital.

Other vaccines that are not safe during prognancy you get after the birth. I have to get the MMR titer as I'm no longer immune.
