38 weeks pregnant! When will doc check for dilation?

I went to my appointment this past Thursday and though for sure she would start checking to see if I'm dialated yet but she didn't. When does the doc check that?

My doctor doesn't check until 39 weeks. It's completely unnecessary anyway.

It's a completely unnecessary procedure. Dilation is not an indication of when a woman will go into labor. Some stay dilated for weeks, others go from 0 in the morning to holding their babies at night.  It's uncomfortable, and often causes dilation. Lots on doctors still do them, but I wouldn't stress at all if yours isn't. I am seeing a midwife who doesn't do them until labor if you request.

It's not a necessary procedure so u might need to ask for it if you really want it, but it doesn't really indicate when labour will start.

Im in the UK & they don't check dialation until 40 weeks or if medically necessary, and even then they need your permission xxx

Mine said he would check until 39w, but I had to ask him. He explained that he preferred natural births and sometimes checking the cervix too early can cause labor. Yep, so I'll have to wait 2more weeks...

36 weeks and every week after, but I think it depends on your situation. This is my second and we are trying to do vbac but it's all dependent on whether there's any progression by 39 weeks. If it's your first and/or you have never had any issues, I don't see why you would need to be checked unless it makes you feel better.

I go at 37w and he said "I'll check you if you want me to" so I guess I need to decide if I want to be. 
With my first, I was at like a 1 for two weeks, then went to the hospital and was a 3. My SIL was a 6 for weeks and then ended up getting induced
