Almost two year old still not talking?

My son will be 2 in November & he’s still not using any words he babbles ALOT & we even had him in speech therapy and she told us she didn’t see any signs of him being on the spectrum but I’m so worried because he’s still not talking! Please tell me I’m being paranoid and he’s just being stubborn since he’s an only child in a house full of adults!! ☹️
Btw we had to stop speech therapy due to some family issues that happened right around the time of therapy but I’m considering putting him back in it... anyone else have this issue?

I have the same issue! He tries and does babble but he totally understands what you’re talking about. Like if you ask him to go grab a diaper to be changed, he’ll gladly go and grab one! He can nod “yes” and “no” but just can’t say it yet. I also live in a bilingual household. I speak English, my fiancé and his side of the family speak Ilocano (Filipino). His mom talks to my sons in Ilocano a lot but also uses English. But I encourage them speaking to my sons in a different language, I think it’s cool 😁 and better for them in the long run. but my sons Doctor said that because there are 2 languages going on, most times simultaneously around the kids, my almost 2 year old will talk a little longer to learn one language or the other. She wasn’t worried and I’m not either. I know he’ll talk eventually and the fact that he can understand simple requests is a good sign as well.

My son will be 2 on 11/11... he talks some (family members’ names, ball, more, and a few other words he’s said only once or twice) but he is spoken to and understands English and Spanish plus he seems to be able to get his point across with his grunts. I’m not worried at all.

Same here, speaking to him in Spanish and English. My son babbles as well but can understand some of it. It’s just a matter of time they are still small. Try to talk to him in a language that will be his first like me i talk to him in Spanish but these youtube videos aren’t working lol.

mine is still babbling as well. Will be 2 on 11/1. Is learning 2 different languages as well and does understand us. Every  now and then she'll say a word but its mostly babble

I have no real input to add. I just wanted to say that I think it’s amazing that all of you mamas are bringing your children up in bilingual households 🙌🏾. That is so cool and you really are setting them up for success in the future. It’s so strange that in other countries children learn to speak multiple languages very early, yet in America there’s really no push to learn a foreign language until junior high or high school. You all are ahead of the curve.

My son babbles and started saying a few words but cannot make 2 word phrases. He stopped saying mama. He only says dada or baby for his sister. I have him in speech therapy and he’s not on the spectrum , just stubborn. The therapist said speaking to him in English and even Spanish is good being that my mother speaks to him in Spanish. It will not confuse him

My daughter only says 3 words and is speech therapy. She's not on the spectrum either and passed her hearing tests. She was a premie and was sick for a long time the doctors and therapist think that has something to do with it.

Don’t sweat it. We’ll be in a few months and we’re still just babbling away. We have a few important words like cracker, and dad, but even then he’s mostly a pointer/whiner. Boys are often late talkers, and he was an early walk/run/jumper, I think he’s just too busy to sit and focus on it, I’m sure he’ll get it eventually 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

He’s using no words at all or just very few? I think with speech it can be very subjective until 3 but if he has no words and you have the ability to start therapy again I personally would do it.
