My ex and I have finally gotten to the point where we can be friendly and hang out. It may be because my female beat friend is his best friend/roommate but whatever. But I’ve been getting a weird feeling from him lately. When we’re around other people, he’s normal-or as normal as you can be trying to maintain a friendship with the girl you dumped. But when we’re alone, he’s acting like he did when we liked each other.

Like we started serving at church, and we did a pre-service prayer huddle for the volunteers. We joined hands, and he went to lace our fingers together like he would when we dated. He stopped about halfway and fixed it. And just generally was VERY concerned about me in the heat(we do greeting in a little tent outside the church), and I overheard his mom asking why he dumped me.

Then Monday I got to our YA ministry(we’re in our 20s). He had some coffee, which he clearly didn’t like- he’s never liked coffee and I’m basically a Hispanic Lorelei Gilmore- so I asked if I could have it. About halfway through the sermon, it hits me and I feel sick. I ask him what’s in it and he says FOUR shots of espresso. He laughed and reached over The aforementioned best friend who was sitting between us and gave my arm a squeeze. Again, like he would when we were DATING.

He pointed out a guy walking into church with an “I ❤️ my wife” shirt and said he wants to do that with his future wife

He made a point to tell me he’s started working out and got a promotion.

Our friend and HIS MOM(who hasn’t unfriended me on social media which is key bc he’s a mamas boy) asked if we’re back together.

And I’ve just seen him glance over at me when he thinks I’m not looking, trying to be super close to me when we’re together, and just generally behaving in ways that he did when he had a crush on me. But I’m not sure if I’m thinking things, he actually does like me again, or he’s just being nice to me because he was there when I found out my dad died last month.....
