Would you get tested for herpes?

I recently found out that standard full std tests don’t include herpes :/

I always thought I was fully std free and have got frequent testing to make sure and this discovery has got me paranoid as :(

I have never had any symptoms but was wondering what people think on whether you should be tested or not

Apparently doctors do not recommend getting tested without symptoms

However, heaps of cases of herpes are asymptomatic

And any experiences people have had if you have specifically requested a herpes test ??

In my opinion =

the positives - being aware of your status to make sure you don’t pass anything on to anyone, peace of mind if it all comes back negative

the negatives - apparently a lot of herpes tests are false positives and cause undue emotional distress, having to disclose to all future partners, a potential positive result would be devastating/ soul destroying
