Daycare concern

Julie

Background:

I am a teacher. So I work 9 months and have 3 months off.

My son is 11 months old. He started daycare at 4 months. Was Home with me all summer and is now returning to daycare as I go back to work.

He goes to an unlicensed in home daycare (however I know the provider so she’s not a stranger) when he started at 4 months it was just him and 3 other kids. She is great with him. He loves her. She does a curriculum with the kids, lots of arts and crafts, sets goals for my son and works with him on things. She is walking distance from my work so I am in close proximity to him.

Problem:

I took him today for a few hours to transition back and his provider now has 8 -9 kids in her care by herself ranging from 2 months to 3 years old. I worry that this is too many kids. Not that she doesn’t know what she’s doing but that’s way over ratio. I mentioned it to her being alot of kids and I think I offended her like she’s incapable or something. She swears she’s ok with it and can handle it.

Unfortunately st this time she is the only care that we have and she just adores him. What should I do? Look for new care? Or do you think he will be ok there??? I can’t help but worry (I have terrible anxiety issues anyway) but she really does love him. Ughhh.
