How long are your IUD strings? (+ Menstrual Cup Q!)

After having Mirena for three years I had it removed because I didn’t want hormones in my body. I got Paragard on the 17th and today I was checking my strings and they seem alittle longer than my Mirena strings were? How long are everyone’s strings typically? Also for those who menstruate while having an IUD do any of you use a menstrual cup? I want to be more waste free but I’m afraid of dislodging my IUD! Thank you in advanced <3

I have had the paraguard for a couple months and felt my strings were quite long so got them trimmed by my doctor. They’re much better now! I use my menstrual cup and have had no issues. As long as you remove it gently and carefully you should be right. The only risk is you might grab hold of the strings when trying to remove it but as long as you’re slow and gentle you’ll be fine. My doctor left mine long and they were 2cm. I think everyone here might mean cm because if they're inches, that's really long and most doctors trim them at least a little when it's inserted.

Mine are a few inches long. You can always ask your doc to trim them if you don’t like the length. 
I’ve used the Diva Cup with my IUD. I didn’t consult my doctor about it but everything I found online said menstrual cups shouldn’t effect the IUD at all unless you get the strings caught and tug out your own IUD by brute force - which sounds really unlikely considering how much that would hurt. 
Listen to your body. Stop if something hurts.

Mine seem to be a few inches long but I'm not sure because they're now tucked around my cervix. I have been told not to use a menstrual cup with the IUD so personally, I don't, but I've heard of some women on here who do.
