It depends. Breastfeeding can be a factor. I breastfed all 3 of my babies and never had periods the entire time (more than a year per baby).

About a year. I breastfed and also went on birth control

It's taken me over a year since I've had my son I've only had 3 periods and they are all over the place I breastfeed and pump as well I can go two or three months sometimes with no period

It took over a year for my periods to return because I breast fed, which delayed the return of my periods. Once I stopped breast feeding they returned to normal right away.
