Any advice for a first time girlfriend who’s SO is going on deployment?

My boyfriend is leaving tomorrow for a month to do tests and missions on a ship before an 8 month long deployment. We’re long distance as it is, but we rely heavily on FaceTime and text messages for communication. I’ve been struggling lately and he made a comment today that a friend of his said it was easier to these things when single, so now me being an over thinker i feel like he’s hinting at something. 
I just want to be able to love and support him through this without my emotions showing through too strongly. I don’t want him worrying about me when he’s away. Any advice?

Find a lot of hobbies for just you to stay busy, send him good care packages regularly (it’s sometimes difficult for them to make it to a shopette), send cards, paler photos, and letters, don’t overdo it on your social life...deployed guys get real fucked up with jealousy when they watch their friends’ relationships and marriages implode from cheating. Set up a schedule for you two to FaceTime, Snapchat or whatever since his schedule is likely gonna be crazier than yours, try not to miss it. It’s gonna mean a lot to him. If he expresses hate or depression, negativity, just be a shoulder for him, try not to be hard on him or feel neglected, it gets rough sometimes.

If you’re not sure where you’re relationship is standing right now, or are worried he’s hinting at breaking up, I HIGHLY suggest you work that out with him before he leaves. I personally feel like one of the most important things for any relationship- military or not - is communication. If you two are not on the same level, things will be so much harder for you. You need to know where you stand, especially in a long distance relationship where communication is hard enough already. 
As far as his deployment, I’d say the best thing really is to keep yourself busy. Focus on your job, schooling, yourself, hobbies, etc. Maybe even consider volunteering! When my husbands away, I try to fill my time as much as possible - makes everything go by so much quicker and occupies your mind. Which I know is important because I am an over thinker as well. 
Keep your head up and stay positive, friend! No matter what happens, you’re gonna be okay.

you can and with tech the way it is now communcation will be there if yall try. but the only thing i have to say is girlfriend or more dont let the FRG wives push you out and say you cant be apart of anything because you can! talk to him and the command if they dont.
