Are cups better?

My friend recently started using a cup instead of tampons/pads and I'm really curious about it. I am considering buying one but I need to do a little more research first. For the ladies who have used them or still use them, what did you think? Are they safer than tampons? Is it easier to get infections?

In my opinion, menstural cups are far better than any other product for your period.

I never liked pads. The idea of sitting in my own blood just didn't appeal to me. And because I moved a lot in my sleep, wearing pads overnight always left me in a huge mess come morning. Talk about disgusting.

I used tampons for a while, but quickly learned that they just weren't working for me. I consistently leaked, and was going through tampons like crazy. While tampons do not directly cause Toxic Shock Syndrome, they do increase your chances of getting TSS.

Switching to a menstural cup was the best choice I ever made for my period. I can keep the cup in for 6-10 hours, depending on my flow. There's no leaking. Nothing is absorbing the good and important bacteria in my vagina. I can use it overnight without waking up in a mess. And best of all, I haven't had to purchase another thing for my period since purchasing my cup. It saves money!

It took me about three cycles to get use to my cup, and figure out how to get it to work best for me. That being said, once I got the hang of things, getting my period got a lot more simple. I'd suggest giving it a try.

Infections are less likely with a cup.  You only need to change it every 12 hours.  I'm still getting the hang of mine.

It's healthier than using a tampon for sure. There's no risk of TSS while using a cup. They take some getting used to and cost more money upfront. But after considering the amount of tampons you could use in the time a cup will last it is far cheaper.

I use the moon cup and I love it. I was on day 2 of my period last Sunday and for a while after I woke up I actually had forgotten that I had my period! Ha!
