How long should I leave tampons in for?

I want to try to start using tampons because I think I’ll have less leaks, but it’s the middle of the school year so I wanna know how long should I wait to change it.

I change it everytime I pee. My doctor actually said that it is a lot safer

Depends on how your flow is. If you have heavy flow you'll need to use a bigger tampon and might change it every 2 hrs to make sure thar you dont leak. However, when you period is light the tampon might disintegrate and pieces can be left behind in your vagina. 
In general its best to not forget about the tampon inside of you (change it every 4-6 hours) due to toxic shock syndrome which is also a reality.

Up to 8 hours. If it’s heavy change it sooner. Usually I change it just every time i go to the bathroom unless I’m extra hydrated and peeing every half hour because pulling out a dry tampon hurts lol.
