Can you guys give some advice?

Im getting an IUD on Tuesday. And Im nervous. Can you guys tell me what you did to feel better after? And what made you feel okay during? I know it's going to be painful. 
And did you do anything down there for before? Im nervous for someone to see me down there.  Im not gonna shave. But like still. 
Im gonna feel awkward and embarrassed. But I think the pain will mask those feelings..
My sister got one. When she tried to go get it she got to upset and was in so much pain they sent her home. And decided to put her to sleep for it. But she has personal reasons as to why she was like that. 
I do need some advice tho.

I took 800mg ibuprofen and 1000 mg tylenol before hand and my doctor also does numbing shots in the cervix as standard practice. After all that, all I felt was pressure. I'd do it again in a heart beat if I had to

I was very nervous as well. I just got one recently. When I went in there they are going to ask you a lot of questions about your period, period pains, your sexual activity, STD’s, and several other things. They will be very kind to you because they know you’re nervous. I actually wanted to ease some nerves so I told them how nervous I was. They are understanding and then they will explain the pain to you. I’m not sure what you have been told, but right before the doctor came in I googled stories of it. Not a good idea! I got so scared at these girls horror stories! But when I tell you it’s nothing like that I mean it from the bottom of my heart. They tell you about all the tools and they explain what they are doing before they do it. They make sure you are okay with it and make sure you are ready. Once you say okay then they do it. So don’t worry about being forced. As for pain? I would give it a 4 out of 10. Maybe even 3. It felt like a tiny pinch. A tiny cramp. It was more annoying than actually painful. The real pain came when you get home but it’s nothing more than period cramps. I went home and took a nap, the cramps were gone. For a while I got them on and off here and there and they caused discomfort but nothing you can’t handle. Basically just a period cramp. You can’t wear tampons for a week or so after so buy pads or liners. No sex for a week. You don’t have to plan anything before you get there but I recommend shaving just so it’s easier. But if you don’t want to there is nothing wrong with that either. All in all, don’t be nervous. It’s nothing more than cramps. Girls go through these all the time, so no biggy! Don’t worry. I feel silly for being nervous now that I know how easy it was.

Get it installed while you have ur period and take a potent pain killer. I did that and didn’t have any complications during insertion and minimal adjustment afterward.

So I have my iud. Did anyone feel way more pain on one side than the other. Cause thats where im at rn.

took 3 tries for me to get mine. second time they gave me medicine to relax my uterus, obv didn’t work. 3rd time they used a sonogram to see where my uterus was and they finally got it. it Hurt so bad all 3x and i think i’m pretty decent with pain. It’s definitely been worth it though, almost 7 months of having it.

Had the copper iud in for over 8 years , it was nothing to get put in . It's all just nerves. I heard the marina one hurts but idk. Anyway it does hurt to come out. Had mine taken out almost 3 years ago. I bled for 2 days like normal. I was told to come when on period it's better and to take out on period so I did. Had no problems what so ever while having it in. Hope this helps.

I took my husband with me. It helped to have someone there. I took ibuprofen but it didnt help, but worth a try to use it. Just try to relax. Breathe through your nose and out your mouth

Take Advil before. I received nothing else to manage the pain and I survived. It does hurt but only for a few minutes. I did get extremely light headed afterwards and threw up. I slept the rest of the day and took Motrin. The second day I was in some discomfort but it wasn’t awful, third day I was fine. I have had it for four years now and it is so worth it. I have very light periods, if I have one at all. Before I would cramp and bleed so badly I couldn’t leave bed. It is worth the initial discomfort.

I wasn’t nervous at all so when I got it out in I was kinda in shock. It hurt like a bitch and I ended up passing out twice. The cramps were gone after 2 days but I highly recommend lots of Advil and heating pads

I was there today and got the copper IUD. I was super nervous to the point I couldn’t eat but I forced myself to eat a little something before so that I didn’t have an empty stomach. Also make sure you take some type of medicine for pain before. I’m not sure if that even helps cause I took 2 ibuprofens and it still was painful. When you get there they will make you pee and test it for thing, then they will do your vitals and ask you a ton of personal questions. As for the actual insertion just make sure you breathe and stay calm. For me the most painful part of when they measure you. Good luck!
