My birth story

So now that my son is almost 4 months old I suppose I can share my birth story. I had what seemed like the worst birth ever but I know that isn't true. At my 38 and 39 week appointments I had high blood pressure and a ton of swelling. At my 39 week appt my urine results weren't back before I left so I got a call later from the hospital saying there was protein in my urine and to come back and get a jug to collect my urine for the next 24 hours and they hooked me up to a machine to watch baby's heart rate and I also had a ultrasound to make sure everything was okay with baby. Baby was perfect so I left. I turned in my sample the next day and was on my way home when I get a call from my mom. She says u have to be at the doctor by 7pm tomorrow, hope ur ready to have a baby! Sooo to clarify she's my emergency contact and I was in a bad spot for service so I didn't get the call from my doctor. So I get home walk in the door and look at my fiancé. I asked him if he was ready to meet his son because I had to be induced tomorrow due to really high protein levels in my urine, high blood pressure, and terrible swelling (signs of preeclampsia) so we arrive at the hospital they hook me up to a machine that monitors babies heart rate and my contractions. An hour or so later doctor comes in and inserts this ballon thing and fills it with water, that sucked. I had small contractions all night. I didn't get any sleep. By noon they were getting worse. The doctor kept coming in periodically to check how dialated I was. She removed the balloon thing at 8am. At about 2 I got in the bath and turned on the jets. That felt amazing. I get out and was walking around then sat in the chair in my room and had the nurse bring me a heating pad. That helped a bit. Then I got so I couldn't sit anymore. I was standing holding on the the back of the chair when I felt something running down my leg. So I go to the bathroom. It was my mucus plug. I go back out and it's maybe 5:45ish. I get in bed and I'm yelling with every contraction. I got an epidural at 3 but it didn't work. They gave me two more doses and it still wasn't helping. I felt like I was dying. I had back labor really bad. Doctor came in at 6 and says I'm ready and she could see his head and everyone was in a rush. 20 minutes later my baby boy was on my chest. He was blue so they took him right away which freaked me out but within 5 minutes he was back on my chest. He was the most precious little thing. 6 pounds 13 ounces 20 inches long born at 6:20pm and totally perfect. There's probably things I left out like when they did pitocin but I don't remember when the did that and my times on everything else may not be right either. But this is what I remember. The pic of him in orange is from earlier this week. He's such a happy baby💙
