I’m 30 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Also an ER nurse in an inner city hospital. I was taking out an iv on a patient and somehow his blood splashed in my eye. The patient then told me he had hepatitis C and I need to “get myself taken care of”. I spoke with my ob and he said that I was to wait 7-12 weeks to know if I contracted it. He also says that they will test my son when I have him. I’m not really looking for any advice just some comfort. I’m so scared that I might have hurt my baby. I have been a nurse for 9 years and have never had blood exposure. I’m just so upset that I can’t stop crying.
